5 WAYS TO FAKE IT!

I know you should never fake anything. However, sometimes it is okay to fake the fact that you cannot cook. Here are five tips to help you fake preparing a meal for that special person or family.

1) Buy prepared foods from the grocery store's deli. They taste homemade without all the fuss. The salad mix with all the trimmings is awesome!

2) Presentation is everything! Invest in a tablecloth, candleholders, and candles from a discount store. Break out the matching dishes. Use the nice wineglasses no matter if you are serving wine or sparkling apple cider. It still adds a nice touch to the table.

3) Warm the food on the stove or in the oven. The aromas will circulate throughout the house, giving the illusion that you have been cooking. Depending on the meal, heat up 15-20 minutes prior to guest(s) arriving.

4) Add your favorite herbs or spices to the dish. For example, if you use a spaghetti sauce from a jar, sprinkle a little basil in it. I like to add red peppers flakes for an extra kick.

5) Serve food on platters and in serving bowls. Scoop prepared pudding into a martini glass and garnish with a pirouette cookie.

It still takes some effort on your part to faking it, but you can handle it. You probably did it in the past. By the way, I want to hear from those who have faked cooking a meal for someone. If so, what did you do? Thanks for sharing!

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

I cannot think of a better weekend to launch The Food Temptress Blog, a work in progress. Love is in the air for at least 24 hours. People are making dinner plans while others are buying candy, condoms, and flowers. It is not a day for lovers only. Heck, I even sent my sister and brother-in-law a card. Yes, I found one card that addressed both. Valentine’s Day is evolving before our eyes. Soon, we will see holiday advertising for nontraditional love. Did it happen already and I missed it!?!

Anyway, some folks like all the glitz and glam of the holiday. I do, but it depends on my mood from year-to-year. By the way, this is not synonymous to having a mate or not; I love me too much not to pamper myself on a regular basis. Still, there are those who mope on this affectionate day because they are alone. Well...what would Ambrosia, The Food Temptress, say about this situation?

“If he's just not that into you, cook him something."
